Ducula latrans
The Peale’s Imperial-pigeon (Ducula latrans) is a species of bird in the Columbidae family. It is endemic to Fiji. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and tropical moist montane forest.

Its natural habitats are mature tropical moist lowland forests and tropical moist montane forest. The species is one of two imperial-pigeons found in Fiji, the other, the Pacific Imperial Pigeon, is found on smaller islands.
The Barking Imperial Pigeon is frugivorous, feeding on large fruits of the Cananga, Dysoxylum and Myristica (nutmegs). It feeds as singles or as pairs, occasionally occurring in small flocks on fruiting trees.
The breeding season of this species from May to January, with a single egg being laid on an insubstantial twig nest.
Forms a superspecies with D. brenchleyi, D. bakeri and D. goliath; this group also shows some affinities with theD. pinon species-group. Monotypic.
Distribution: Fiji, mainly on large to medium-sized islands.
