Scheduled Flights
The most commonly used method of travel by our guests are the daily island-hopper flights from Nadi International Airport on the main island of Viti Levu.
Each arrival day, Matava Resort sends a transfer boat down to the airport at Vunisea where the driver greets our new arrivals and assists with their luggage. Guests are transfered by a 3 minute truck drive to the other side of the island where the boat awaits for the 45 minute boat ride to the resort.
The journey is entirely within the inner shallow water lagoons of the Great Astrolabe barrier reef and the vessel carries suitable safety equipment such as lifejackets, distress flares, rockets and mobile phone. If you arrive on the first flight and the resort has guests arriving on the second flight, you may have to wait for their arrival. Because of the journey time to the resort, it is not practical for the transfer boat to make two trips. Any such wait should be less than 30 minutes.
Pacific Sun
Pacific Sun flies once each day Nadi – Kadavu – Nadi and Air Fiji flies once each day Suva – Kadavu- Suva.
These flights drop of guests on Kadavu’s Vunisea airport and pick up departing guests, returning them to their destinations on the main island.
Pacific Sun leaves Nadi at 12.30pm arriving Kadavu at 1.15pm. It then departs Kadavuat 1.30pm arriving back in Nadi at 2.15pm.
Pacific Sun is owned by Air Pacific so guests traveling on Air Pacific can book direct to Kadavu island. The airline can occasionally change the normal flight times so we recommend you double check on your day of departure.
